Obituary for Metheny

Charles Edward Metheny, 64, a resident of Albuquerque for 56 years, died Thursday, July 11, 2002 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Viola Metheny; four daughters, Catherine Casaus and husband, Phil, Patricia Rule and husband, Mark, Mary Jo Bischel and husband, Matt and Elaine Kangas and husband, Carey; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Jenna and Christa Casaus, Stephanie and Daniel Rule, Ben Bischel and Michael Kangas; father, Donald Ralph Metheny; sister, Joann Kalas; brothers, Ralph and Robert Metheny; and many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. He is retired from US West Communications, a devoted Catholic, a member of the Church of the Ascension Parish and Sage N Cactus Pioneer Club and a longtime supporter of Bernalillo County 4-H. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 7:00 p.m., at Church of the Ascension Parish, 2150 Raymac Road SW. Mass will be celebrated Monday, 12:00 o'clock noon, at Church of the Ascension Parish, with Father Anthony Bolman and Father Gary Ortiz, Celebrants. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Joseph Lucero, Patrick Albers, Todd Albers, Mike Albers, James Kalas and Mark Sena. A reception will follow at the Parish Hall after burial. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bernalillo County 4-H Council, 1510 Menaul NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
