Obituary for Heinz

Phyllis Ruiz Heinz, 89, gave up her fight on Wednesday July 17, 2002 after a five year battle to her illness. Phyllis was born on May 30, 1913 in New Mexico where she remained a lifetime resident. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wenand Heinz; sons, Presley and Freddie Myers; and daughter, Mary Jane Myers-Laffertly. She is survived by her children, Henry Myers Jr. and wife, Roberta, Lourdes Myers and companion, Jess Betancourt, Manuel Myers and wife, Betty, Ramona Myers-Morris and husband, John, Jacob Heinz and wife, Toni, Isabel Heinz Montano and husband, Ned and Joseph Heinz and wife, Patricia; grandmother of 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and her loving dog of 14 years Baby. Phyllis was a foster parent for many years, was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, involved in Senior Citizens and War Widows. She loved to laugh, dance and loved her family and friends. She will be missed but never forgotten. We will love you in our hearts and mind forever. A Rosary will be recited by Rosela Maldonado on Friday evening in the Eighth Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary at 7:00 p.m. Final viewing will be on Saturday morning from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. with Mass of the Resurrection to be celebrated by Fr. Manuel Viera at 8:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be her loving grandsons Nevin Montano, Jason Montano, Manuel Montano, Chris Sargani, Michael Myers, Patrick Myers and Joseph Myers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Myers, Anthony Castillo and Richard Chavez. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be donated in her name to the Military Widows, Kirtland Airforce Base Chapel, 1950 2nd St. Kirtland A.F.B., NM 87117. Services are in the care of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave. S.W. 243-5222.
