Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday July 19, 2002

Adrian Wiley Daniel born September 19, 1923 in Bunger, TX passed away July 12, 2002 in Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his wife, Cecelia Belle Yates; sons, Terry Clyde Daniel and his wife, Caroline of Tucson, AZ, Ted Cameron Daniel and his wife, Chris of Houston, TX, Michael Hoyt Daniel and his wife, Karen of Albuquerque and James Wiley Daniel and his wife, Coleen of Los Lunas, NM; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Adrian served in the US Coast Guard and US Merchant Marines during WWII. He married his wife, Cecelia on August 22, 1942. In 1961, he moved his family from Carlsbad to Albuquerque. He has served as a Cub Scout Master, Scout Master, and an Order of the Arrow Advisor, BSA. He coached Little League Baseball and Pony League Baseball. He is retired as the Administrator of the NM State Unemployment Compensation-Risk Management Division. He was a member of the Christian church 59 years where he has served as deacon, elder, CYF sponsor, church school teacher and church school principal. Adrian and Cecelia were charter members of Bethany Christian Church in El Paso, TX and a member of Monte Vista Christian Church for 26 years in Albuquerque. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and doing just about anything with his sons and grandchildren. He attended every possible ball game, marathon race, recital and science fair presentation that he could get to. He is the only grandpa pictured in the Onate Elementary School year book of 2002. Adrian was always there for his family. Being there might mean working two or three jobs during lean times, coming up with money, from somewhere, somehow, when it was needed. He was even there when he had to travel five days a week to be home on Friday night to attend a Boy Scout camp-out the next morning. A Memorial Service will be held at the Monte Vista Christian Church, 3501 Campus Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106 on Saturday, July 20, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Christian Education and Parish Nursing Ministries at Monte Vista Christian Church. Cremation arrangements by the Sunrise Society of NM, 891-8200.
