Obituary for Sheldon

David Caleb Sheldon, was born on February 2, 1928 in Hancock, MI and died on Wednesday, July 19, 2002 in Albuquerque, NM. He was a devoted and loving father and friend who will be deeply missed. He is survived by, Grace Sheldon, his wife of 54 years, their sons David Churchill Sheldon and wife Cathy of Sandy, UT; Daniel Stuart Sheldon and wife Linda of Johnstown, CO; John Christopher Sheldon and wife Kathleen of Las Vegas, NV; and daughter Josephine Ann Jackson and husband Eric of Corona, CA. David was blessed with eleven grandchildren. Brittney, Brienne, Cameron, Amy, Matthew, Adam, Jessica, Zane, Luke, Nakeisha, and Danica. He is also survived by his sister Alice Sheldon of Albuquerque and his brother Tom and his wife Diane of Cedar Crest, NM. Also, by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Churchill G. and Josephine Coughlin Sheldon, his brother, Stephen Sheldon and his sisters, Eleanor Sheldon, Elizabeth Sheldon Maloney, Mary Sheldon Bentley, and Julianne Sheldon Sheehan. David moved with his family to Salt Lake City, UT at the age of 7. He served in the military during World War II. He graduated from the University of Utah with a BS degree in Marketing. He retired from General Electric Corporation, Major Appliance Division, in 1988 after 33 years. He was a member of St. Bernadette's Parish since 1973 and was their Business Manager for 14 years. He was Intermountain Director for the National Ski Patrol; Ski Patrol Leader at Alta Ski Resort in Alta, UT; and Past President of Toastmasters International, in Pocatello, Idaho. Viewing will take place on Tuesday, July 23, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at French Mortuary Lomas Blvd. Chapel. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, July 23, at 7:00 p.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 24, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Father Scott Mansfield celebrating. Pallbearers will be David Sheldon, Daniel Sheldon, John Sheldon, Eric Jackson, Timothy Sheehan, and Louis Gonzalez. Graveside will take place in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery on Friday, July 26, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Memorial Foundation, c/o Sandia Hospice, 4725 Indian School Rd.
