During the 28 years that he served in the military, his duty stations included Viet Nam, the Aleutian Islands, a number of locations in the U.S. and several places in Germany, and most significantly Berlin. Mr. Weaver graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland in 1981. He later attended the University of Alaska and earned a Master's Degree in 1988 from Troy State University in Alabama by attending classes while he was stationed in Europe. After his retirement in 1990, and his return to Portales, he went back to school and completed a second Bachelor's Degree in 1993 at Eastern New Mexico University. In addition to his studies, he busied himself by working with projects in Portales and the surrounding area sponsored by the Youth Conservation Commission. Throughout his life, he was a woodworker and had become very accomplished. He was a member of the General Roll of the United Methodist Church.
