Obituary for Madrid

Diego Madrid, 77, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 32 years and originally of Canjilon passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2002.¯ He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gabinita Madrid; his parents, Ruben and Teresita Madrid; son-in-law, Nick Montano and a sister, Ofelia Martinez.¯ He is survived by his wife, Gabina Madrid of the home in Albuquerque; two daughters, Genevieve Montano of Albuquerque and Vangie Marquez and husband, Max of El Rito; seven grandchildren, Darlene Garcia and friend, Andy Chavez, Nick Montano, Jr. and wife Monica, Danny Montano and wife Kristy and Angel Montano all of Albuquerque, Max Marquez, Jr. and wife Rose of San Juan, James Marquez and wife Margo of Santa Fe and Christina Galvez and husband Joseph of Ojo Caliente; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mabel Rivera and husband Perfecto; one brother, Ponciano Madrid all of Grand Junction, CO.¯ He is also survived by Christopher Orioste of Edgewood who was like a grandson; a nephew whom he helped raise, George Martinez and wife, Esther of Tijeras; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law whom he also helped raise, Jose Rivera of Rio Rancho, Leo Rivera and wife, Tina of Canjilon, Sergio Rivera and wife, Dorothy of Santa Fe, Reyes Manzanares and husband, Adelaido of Espanola and Sinfer Gomez and husband, Raymond of Albuquerque; many nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.¯ On Friday, July 26, 2002, visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. and a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the San Juan de Nepomuceno Church in Canjilon.¯Mass of Christian Burial is tentatively scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, at the San Juan de Nepomuceno Church in Canjilon.¯Interment will follow at the Canjilon Cemetery.¯ Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Salazar Family of Block-Salazar Mortuary.¯ 1-(505)-753-2288 or 1-800-443-4854.
