Philip Caffrey, an Albuquerque native, was taken from us suddenly on Monday, July 22, 2002 in a tragic automobile accident in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife, Mechelle; and his two devoted daughters, Curran and Ainsley; his mother, Ann Caffrey Reddy, of Rio Rancho; his two sisters, Ann Marie Cale and Cecilia Colucci, both of Albuquerque; by his eight brothers, John, Kevin, Christopher and Brian, all in Albuquerque, Michael and Richard, of Nampa, Idaho, Daniel, of Santa Fe, and Timothy of Fayetteville, Arkansas, his step-father; his parents-in-law; sisters and brothers-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Philip was born in Albuquerque on May 23, 1962. He graduated from St. Pius High School where he played basketball and started many lifelong friendships. He attended New Mexico State University and graduated from North Carolina State University. He was a chemical engineer and enjoyed his work for the chemical company Hoest Celanese. He had recently relocated to Corpus Christi from Bay City, Texas. He was active in the local Presbyterian Church and was well known for his wonderful work as a local girls' soccer coach. He also especially enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, both in church and around a New Mexico camp fire. Philip was cremated in Corpus Christi and a Memorial Service was held on Thursday, July 25, 2001. Philip was an unusually kind and generous man. He was an extraordinarily loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be remembered fondly by all. Contributions may be made in his memory to the National Vitligo Center, PO Box 6337, Tyler, Texas 75711.
