Obituary for Otero

Magdaleno Otero, 76, a native of New Mexico, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died Sunday, August 25, 2002. Magdaleno has gone to our lord, after fighting a long battle with cancer. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by the entire family. His parents, Miguel and Rebecca Otero preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Juanita Otero; children, Virgil Otero and wife, Dina of Los Lunas, Erma Greene and husband, Steve of Pullman, WA, Martin Otero and Dolores Maestas of Albuquerque, Elmer Otero and wife, Cathy of Los Lunas; nine grandchildren, Consuelo Otero of Albuquerque, Elmer D. Otero of Los Lunas, Adrian Otero stationed in Washington, DC, Luis Otero of Albuquerque, Mario Otero of Los Lunas, Catrina Otero of Albuquerque, Rebecca Otero of Albuquerque, and Jared and Kaitlin Greene of Pullman, WA; an older sister, Luz Otero; younger sisters and brothers, Josie Maldonado, Carmen Mora, Rachel Chavez and husband, Gilbert of Albuquerque, Cecilia Romero of Tome, Senaida Gurule and husband, Abel, Joe Otero and Amadeo and wife, Patsy Otero of Albuquerque; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. His younger brothers, Victor and Mike Otero of Albuquerque, preceded him in death. Magdaleno was born on February 1, 1926 in Tajique, NM. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army serving at the end of World War II. He was employed by ACF and retired from General Electric after 33 years, retiring in 1989. Those who knew him especially for his knowledge and character will dearly miss Magdaleno. Thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for him and Hospice of Vista Care. Pallbearers will be Elmer D. Otero, Adrian Otero, Luis Otero, Mario Otero and nephews, Ronald Chavez and Tony Otero. Honorary pallbearers will be Consuelo, Catrina, Rebecca Otero and Kaitlin Greene and godson, Ivan Chavez. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 27, 2002 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW.
