Obituary for Knipfing

Richard T."Dick" Knipfing, Sr., 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died Sunday, August 25, 2002. A native of Westbury, New York, he is survived by his wife, Marion Knipfing who shared his life and love for nearly 62 years. He is also survived by his son, Dick Knipfing, Jr. and wife, Charlene; daughter, Joyce Skasik and husband, Fred; and daughter, Beth Royer and husband, Paul, all of Albuquerque. In addition he is survived by his sister, Sr. M. Antoine-Daniel, SSND of Wilton, Connecticut; his much loved grandchildren,Tina Johnson and husband, Paul, Trey Knipfing and wife, Annette, Bridget Goldfarb and husband, John, Suzanne Skasik, Chris Royer, Allyson Royer and Katie Royer. Other survivors are his seven great-grandchildren who always brought a happy sparkle to his eyes, Tyler, Sarah and Ashley Johnson, Lauren and Kyle Goldfarb, Jake Todd and Michael Royer. Dick Knipfing, Sr., was born into a large, tight-knit family. His parents, Michael and Anna Knipfing preceded him in death as did 12 of his sisters and brothers; Catherine, Florence, Charley, Marie, Joe, Thomas, Skid, Bill, Robbie, George, Agnes, and Albie. Dick was a veteran of World War II, a proud member of the Navy's fighting"Seabees." He had deferment from the draft, but joined up voluntarily because, as was the case with so many of the"greatest generation," he loved his family and his country and was willing to sacrifice himself to protect them. Most of all he loved his God and his Catholic faith. A Rosary will be recited on the evening of Tuesday, August 27, 2002, at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with the Marianites reciting. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, 2532 Vermont NE, with Father Ronald L. Bruckner, Celebrant. Pallbearers will be Trey Knipfing, Chris Royer, Paul Royer, Fred Skasik, Paul Johnson, and John Golfarb. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum.
