Obituary for Martinez

Maria De Los Angeles Guadalupe Lozano de Martinez, beloved mother, Abuelita, and great-grandmother born in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico on August 2, 1906, longtime resident of El Paso, TX, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2002. Mother's family had to leave her native land because of the Mexican Revolution. Her wonderful personality endeared her to family and her many, many friends. She was a devoted mother who truly exemplified the true meaning of the person who gives life. She will be missed, but her loving care will be a reminder of her love to all of us. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Clemente N. Martinez; three grandchildren; and her twin brother, Alfonso Lozano. She is survived by her sister, Refugio Lozano de Manzano of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico; eight children, Miriam Irene McKay, Jacqueline and husband, Ralph Hadcock, Miguel Agustin and wife, Ellie Martinez, Margot O'Hannigan, Beatrice and husband, Ruben Rodriquez, Humberto and wife, Raquel Martinez, Tarcisio Chris and wife, Susan Martinez, and Baudilio Martinez; 22 grandchildren, including Margaret and Richard Smith, Georgette and Marc Lombardo and Andrew Hadcock; 17 great-grandchildren, including Stephanie and Matthew Smith. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on August 19, 2002 by her grandson, Father Michael Rodriguez at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church El, Paso, TX. Interment followed at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in El Paso. The family requests in lieu of flowers, Masses for her in care of Father Dale Jamison, O.F.M.
