Glendon W. Wood. Graveside Service for Glendon W. Wood, 76, of Lubbock, TX will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2002 at Idalou Cemetery with Mr. Tommy Hicks officiating. Mr. Wood died Thursday, September 5, 2002 in Lubbock. He was born September 13, 1925 in Idalou to Jessie and Beulah Wood. He graduated from Idalou High School in 1943. He served our country in the Navy on the USS Custer during World War II in the Pacific theater receiving the Philippine Liberation Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He married Nelvie Parker November 2, 1952 in Lubbock. He was a fireman for the Lubbock Fire Department working for many years at Station #4. After 34 years of service, he retired as a Captain at Station #7. He was a member of Southside Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Gerald Wayne Wood of Albuquerque, Gary Lynn Wood of Valdosta, Georgia, Donald Keith Wood of El Paso, TX; two brothers, Willis Wood and Dale Wood both of Lubbock and one granddaughter. .DMP
