Obituary for Smith

Harley Allen Smith, a resident of Albuquerque for over 33 years, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2002. Harley was born on October 22, 1927 in Ozark, Arkansas. He was proud to have served his country in the Merchant Marines and the United States Air Force during WWII and the Korean War. Harley was very active in many organizations including the Sandoval #76 Masonic Lodge, Alameda Lions Club and was a longtime member of the NRA. Prior to retirement, Harley owned and operated Griegos TV & Repair. Harley was a dedicated and hard working man. He was an avid animal lover and was known for his creativity and ability to invent, fix and repair almost anything. Harley was very well respected and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Smith of Coalinga, CA; his children, Patricia and husband, Charles Chambers of St. Louis, MO, James Allen Smith and wife, Roberta of Albuquerque, Earnest Harley Smith and wife, Bethanie of Batesville, AR, Joseph Donald Smith of Chidester, AR; sisters, Beulah Roberts of Clarksville, AR and Helen Fuller of Albany OR; step-children, Anthony Eckhardt of Coalinga, CA, April Eckhardt of Denver, CO, Carl Eckhardt of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and a host of very special friends. A Memorial Service for Harley will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options, 2400 Southern Blvd. in Rio Rancho. Burial will take place on Friday, September 13, 2002 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Services under the care of Sunrise Funeral Options - 891-9192.
