Alexander Busch Milyko, 72, passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2002 after a long struggle with heart disease. Born in San Angelo, TX and raised in Bayville, Long Island, New York, Alex graduated from Haverford College in PA ('51) and Columbia University Medical School ('55). He had a private family medical practice for 20 years in West Hartford, CT before moving to Albuquerque in 1981 where he was a doctor in the Internal Medicine Dept. of Lovelace Medical Center for ten years until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed golf, reading, playing pool, writing letters and exploring the country with his wife, Louise in their motorhome, but his passion was for people and it was that passion that made him a beloved doctor, friend and mentor to so many. He is survived by his wife of 50 yeas, Louise; four children, Heber Isreal Milyko of Albuquerque, Bruce Milyko and his wife, Kathy of Stafford, VA, Sandy Kirkpatrick and her husband, Win of Benicia, CA and Wayne Milyko and his wife, Mary Davis of Issaquah, WA; sister, Florence of New Canaan, CT; sister-in-law, Jean Goss of Darlington, SC; nine grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The family is grateful to the many friends, medical and hospice staff who have helped us through this difficult time of loss. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at the McKay Auditorium at Lovelace Hospital, 5400 Gibson Blvd. SE, Albuquerque, NM on Sunday, October 20, 2002 at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Lovelace Hospice, 5403 Gibson Blvd. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
