Obituary for Gonzales

Tommie Gonzales, age 70, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother died peacefully in the arms of her family on Saturday, September 14, 2002 at her home following a long illness. Tommie was born November 11, 1931 in Socorro to the late Regino and Ana Maria Valenzuela. She is survived by, Aristeo (Speedy) Gonzales of Socorro; four daughters, Frances Howard of Albuquerque, Lupe Rico of Mesa, AZ, Gloria Friday and her husband, Larry of Albuquerque, and Theresa Chavez and her husband, Joe Ray of Los Lunas; four sons, Larry Gonzales of Los Lunas, Gilbert Gonzales and his wife, Kathy of Socorro, Aristeo Gonzales Jr., of Mesa AZ, and Art Gonzales of Belen; her brothers and sisters, Lorie Cooley and Robert of Las Cruces, Manuel Valenzuela and Mary of Claremont, CA, Chavela (Isabel) Lucero and Juan of El Monte, CA, Region Valenzuela Jr. and Bertha of El Monte, CA, Cecelia Silva and Sonny of Socorro, and Angela Peralta and Ralph of Albuquerque. Tommie is also survived by her grandchildren; Ray, Sal Jr., Christopher and Adam Rico, Lawrence and Julian Gonzales, Jessica Blair, Thomas Chavez, Emily Friday, Michael and Peter Gonzales, Roderick Torres, Joshua Chavez, Valerie and Andres Gonzales; her great-grandchildren, James, Peter James, Cassandra, Sabrina and Britney. Tommie will lie in state on Tuesday, September 17, 2002 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a rosary to follow at 7:30 p.m. in San Miguel Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in San Miguel Catholic Church with Fr. John C. Daniel celebrant. Interment will follow in the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery with Adam Rico, Sal Rico Jr., Peter Gonzales, Michael Gonzales, Roderick Torres and Thomas Chavez serving as casket bearers. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE is in charge of all arrangements.
