Loretta Holder, 87, passed away Monday, September 16, 2002 in Albuquerque, surrounded by the love and care of her family. Loretta was born October 10, 1914 to Lloyd and Frances Twaddell. She grew up in Arcola, MO. She met her future husband, Harold F. Holder, in Greenfield, MO. Together they spent several years moving around Missouri and Illinois before settling in Benton, IL, where they lived for 55 years. Loretta worked many years for the Illinois Department of Public Aid where she was a caseworker. She loved to sew, paint, quilt, do handiwork, cook and garden. She had an outstanding spring garden, which was often the pride of the neighborhood, full of color and joy. She also loved to travel, and had visited all 50 U.S. states. Her favorites were New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold F. Holder; her brother, Loren; her sisters, Mary, Katherine, Retha, and Lena Belle; her grandson, Todd; and her son-in-law, Ted Peters. She is survived by her son, Larry Holder; daughter-in-law, Donna and grandson, Matt, all of Fenton, MO; her daughter, Retha Peters of Albuquerque and grandsons, Will Coucheron-Aamot of Los Angeles, CA and Chris Coucheron-Aamot of Santa Fe. In the last years of her life, she continued to paint, and loved to play cards, bingo, and dominoes. Her positive attitude and spunk were a treasure to us all. Loretta's presence in the lives of those who knew her will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 21, 2002, at 12:00 noon, at the Greenfield Funeral Chapel in Greenfield, MO. Burial will follow at the Daugherty Cemetery near South Greenfield, MO.
