Obituary for Sargent

Dudley J. Sargent, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1989, and coming to New Mexico from Texas, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2002. Dudley was born June 4, 1915, the son of Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Jones Sargent in Davidson, Oklahoma. He had worked with the Singer Sewing Machine Company in sales and service before retiring. Following his retirement, Dudley drove a school bus for the Midland(TX) school district, he also was a mechanic for the Vanadium Mine in Durango, CO. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye, son, Bobby Sargent; and daughter, Rita Sargent. Dudley is survived by one son, Billy J. Sargent of Los Lunas, NM; and one daughter, Wanda Ray of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, William Ray, Michael Ray, and Gary Sargent; and two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Robert Ray. The Visitation for Dudley will be held today, Wednesday, October 2, 2002 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Service will be Thursday, October 3, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary with Jake Finkelstein, Elder, Idalia Congregation, Jehovah's Witness, officiating. Entombment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. It has been suggested that contributions be made in Dudley's name to the VistaCare Hospice, 5201 Venice NE, Suite A/B, Albuquerque, NM 87113.
