Rubin Barrs Jr., age 69, and an Albuquerque resident of 40 years died September 29, 2002. Survivors include his sister, Edna L. Smith of Albuquerque; six sisters in-law; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Rubin retired from Yellow Freight in 2000 after 27 years of service and was a member of the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. Viewing and visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2002 at Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave SE. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2002 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 315 53rd St. SW with Rev. Alonzo Twitty Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Strong-Thorne Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
