Obituary for Romero

Dorothy F. Romero, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on October 20, 2002. Dorothy was born on November 8, 1949 to Jose Timoteo and Pat Salazar Martinez in Springer, NM. Dorothy graduated with honors with a masters degree in education from the University of New Mexico. She was an elementary school teacher and spent most of her time teaching at Dolores Gonzales Elementary, Carlos Rey Elementary, and her last teaching years with her precious physically impaired students at Mark Twain Elementary School. She loved volunteering and worked with the South Broadway Cultural Center and the North Valley Community Center. Dorothy was very active in the Hispanic community and enjoyed helping the less fortunate and provided education and translation services for them. Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alameda. Her precious sons were the passion of her life. Dorothy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her father, Jose Martinez; and her sister, Abelina Irene Martinez. Dorothy is survived by her beloved sons, Timothy James Romero and his wife, Maria Elena of Rio Rancho, Thomas Matthew Romero of Albuquerque; mother, Pat Martinez of Springer, NM; sister, Nancy Paulich of Raton, NM; brother, Timoteo Martinez and his wife, Anita of Wagon Mound, NM; granddaughter, Savannah Jade Romero; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of cherished friends and former students. A visitation will be held for Dorothy on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Springer, NM. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will take place at the Sweetwater Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Rio Grande Chapter, 2021 Girard Blvd. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
