Ellen Hegarty, 97, a resident of Albuquerque since 1995, died Monday, October 21, 2002. She is survived by her sons, Kevin Hegarty and wife, Claire of Albuquerque and Brian Hegarty and wife, Florence of Parker, CO; daughters, Ann Kiernan of Boca Raton, FL and Shelia McEvoy and husband, John of Massapequa Long Island, NY, and Joan Abele and husband, Bill of Sandy, UT; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Mrs. Hegarty was born in Kilbritton, Ireland in 1905. She enjoyed knitting blankets for Project Linus. Services will be held Thursday, October 24, 2002, 10:00 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Chapel, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Deacon Victor Bachechi officiating. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Lovelace Hospice, 4503 Gibson Blvd. SE, Siesta Hills, Bldg. 1, 87108.
