Obituary for Sanchez

Cora V. Sanchez, age 97, an Albuquerque resident of 40 years, died October 23, 2002. Cora was born in Velarde, NM on September 2, 1905 to Jeremias and Adelaida (Becker) Velarde. Survivors include daughters, Cora Rodriguez and husband. Efren of Albuquerque, Emily Kinzy and husband, Bill of Albuquerque; sons, Dr. Willie Sanchez of Las Vegas, NM, Steve Sanchez and wife, Judith of Richardson, TX, David Sanchez and wife, Evelyn of Albuquerque; daughter in-law, Clara Sanchez of Albuquerque, sisters, Sophie Bazan of Albuquerque, Ina Hunt of Velarde, NM; brother, Edward Velarde of Velarde, NM; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Juan D. Sanchez; and son, Ernest Sanchez. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. The family wishes to extend its appreciation to the Lovelace Home Health Nurses with special thanks to Judy Tucker. A Rosary will be recited Thursday, October 24, 2002 at 6:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church 1860 Griegos Rd. NW. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., October 25, 2002 also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Gerald Rodriguez, Jason Kinzy, Tim Sanchez, Michael Sanchez, Stephen Sanchez and Nathan Sanchez serving as Pallbearers. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave is entrusted to the care of Cora.
