Obituary for Lobato

Louis A. Lobato peacefully passed away on October 25, 2002 at the age of 84. Born on February 20, 1918 in San Luis, CO to Henrietta and Emilio Lobato, Sr., Louis was one of ten children, seven of whom survive him. He earned a B.A. from Adams State College in Alamosa, CO and a M.A. from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. Louis was a dedicated educator and worked for the Los Lunas and Grants School Districts teaching and serving in administrative capacities. He also taught at the UNM Branch college in Grants. He inspired his students and was well respected by his colleagues. Louis was a member of Risen Savior Catholic Community where he served as usher. He volunteered his time to the Lion's Club, the Elks Club, and the Knights of Columbus. He has resided in Albuquerque since his retirement in 1978. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife and sweetheart, Ruth to whom he was married 62 years; his two daughters, Carmen Tapia and husband, John of Albuquerque and Camille Johnson and husband, Robert of Mill Valley, CA; his grandchildren, Ron Tapia and wife, Lisa of Albuquerque and Veronica Hoffman and husband, Heath of Round Rock, TX; and great grandchildren, Nicholas and Stephanie Tapia of Albuquerque and Joshua and Sophia Hoffman of Round Rock, TX. Louis is cherished and will be remembered for his excellent traits of honesty, empathy, humor, great love of God, and unconditional devotion to his family. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2002 at Chapel of Sandia, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, followed by a Reception in the Sandia Sunroom. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 28 at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE, with Fr. Dennis Garcia, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE. Pallbearers will be John Tapia, Robert Johnson, Ronald Tapia, Heath Hoffman, Nicholas Tapia and Lisa Tapia.
