Obituary for Kainz

Joe Louis Kainz, 72, a 66-year resident of Albuquerque, passed away after a short and unexpected illness on Tuesday, October 22, 2002. He was born in Nogales, Mexico on November 23, 1929. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Johann Kainz; his mother, Felicitas Kainz; his brother, Charles Steve Kainz; and two sons, Richard Benton Kainz and Dana Louis Kainz. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia Jean Kainz; his brother, Edward Robert Kainz and his wife, LaJean Kainz and their daughter, Alyse Kainz of Albuquerque; his sons, Michael Lance of Montreal, Canada and Charles Leslie of Colorado Springs; his daughter Juli Jo Kainz-Armstron of Albuquerque; and four grandchildren, Edwin Joseph, Kalin, Dante, and Stephanie Kainz. Joe was an honored veteran of the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force. He was a Registered Land Surveyor and worked for A.D. Loftin & Assoc. and SGS Witter & Assoc. since 1961. He was an accomplished pilot, a student of Karate, and a lifelong seeker of knowledge and truth. He will be deeply missed by countless family members, friends, neighbors, and colleagues. His family wished to express their deepest gratitude and thanks to the entire staff of the New Mexico Heart Hospital for their professional and heroic efforts over the last week, especially to Joe's nurses. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary- Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Thompson, Brian Thompson, Dick Goodrich, Michael Goodrich, Edward Kainz, and Peter Pino. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the New Mexico Heart Hospital Foundation, 504 Elm NE, 87102.
