Obituary for Hammitt

Ruby Lee Hammitt, 71, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died Wednesday October 23, 2002. She is survived by her husband, James G. Hammitt; daughters, Nikki L. Squires of Albuquerque, and Debbie K. Shafer of Capitan, NM; grandchildren, Gina Goodson, Tracy Hort, Timothy Hort, Jessica Hobbs, Jeremiah Hobbs, Christin Hammitt, Katie Hammitt, Daniel Hammitt, Lisa Hammitt, David Hammitt Jr., and Anne Etlinger; great-grandchildren, Morgan Goodson, Tyler Baca, Mathew Hobbs, Samantha Hobbs, and Taylor James Jarvis; and her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Richard Montgomery. Ruby was very active in Toastmasters for many years, including holding the office of District Governor from 1996-97. She was also the Coordinator of the Life and Breath Club of the American Lung Association. Ruby inspired everyone to remain positive and to overcome all obstacles. Funeral services will be held Monday October 28th, 10:00 AM at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper Rd. NE. Viewing will be held prior to the service time, starting at 9:00 AM. Cremation will follow services and burial of remains will take place in a private family service at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations by made to the New Mexico Chapter of the American Lung Association, 216 Truman NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
