Lydia Christensen, 93, a resident of Albuquerque for more than 50 years, died Saturday, 19 October 2002. Lydia was born in Flaxton, North Dakota. She was a Registered Nurse, and practiced nursing in Portales, NM, before coming to Albuquerque, where she worked for the Public Health Service until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Lydia is the last of a family of nine brothers and sisters. Her death marks the passing of a generation of sons and daughters of pioneers from Denmark who settled on the plains of North Dakota. She was beloved by her family, and the large number of her nieces, nephews, and their offspring. Memorial Services will be held at La Vida Llena on 2, November 2002 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 8100 Mountain Road NE, Suite 102, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
