Obituary for Miller

John W. Miller, a resident of Albuquerque for 27 years, died October 23, 2002. He was born March 21, 1922 in Peru, IN. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, then attended the University of Arizona, Purdue University and was graduated from Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1957. John conducted veterinary practices in Zionsville, IN and Boulder, CO. He also successfully pursued his interest in real estate investments for more than 50 years. John was always an independent thinker, a man of many interests and significant abilities. He was an athlete even into his later years, and had traveled the world extensively. In past years, he had devoted much of his time and resources to St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church, Albuquerque. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge and the Denver Consistory of the Scottish Rite. He is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman E. and Mary Miller, Panama City, FL, Thomas R. and Marie Miller, Lake Charles, LA, Eugene O. Miller and Dianne Franklin, Long Beach CA; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his friend and former wife, Evelyn Miller of Algodones, NM, and Anna Amaya of Albuquerque and her extended family who caringly ministered to John for many years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimers Association, 8100 Mountain Road NE, #102, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Services will be held Thursday, October 31, 2002, 1:30 p.m. at St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church, 601 Montano Road NW, Albuquerque, Father Brian C. Taylor, officiating. Cremation will take place by Sunrise Society.
