Obituary for Pringle

Paula Renee Pringle, 34, of Owings Mills, MD passed away October 19, 2002 at home with her loving family by her side after a courageous three-year battle with breast cancer. Paula, a beautiful, kind, scintillating, adoring mother, who touched the heart of everyone she came in contact with and challenged them with her intellect and love of language, is survived by her husband, Tony Ray and three-year-old daughter, Alexandra Elizabeth Raya de Pringle of Owings Mills, MD; mother, Anita L. Castellano-Granoff, a 25-year survivor of breast cancer, of Albuquerque, NM; father Joseph Pringle of Santa Cruz, NM; grandfather Jose E. Apodaca of Santa Fe, NM; uncles Antonio Apodaca of Albuquerque, NM and William Pringle of Phoenix, AZ; aunts, Florence Apodaca, of Santa Fe; Sharon Apodaca, of Albuquerque; mother-in-law, Maria Garcia de Martinez of Almeria, Spain; father-in-law, Antonio Coronado de Raya of Almeria, Spain; sister-in-law, Ana Rios de Luna of Madrid, Spain; brother-in-law, Antonio Rios de Luna of Madrid, Spain; great-grandmothers-in-law, Isabella Garcia de Martinez and Ana Coronado Raya both of Almeria, Spain; step-father, Barry Granoff of Albuquerque; step-sister, Roybne Germany, and her husband, Mike, of Houston, TX; step-brother, Louis Granoff of Albuquerque; step-niece, Sarah Granoff of Albuquerque; and many cousins in New Mexico as well as the East and West coasts. Her maternal grandmother, Cleo G. Apodaca, died of breast cancer in 1971, and her paternal grandparents, Dolph and Gwen Pringle who died in 2001 precede Paula in death. Paula graduated from McCurdy School, Santa Cruz, NM, in 1986, and received a BA in Spanish and Journalism from the University of New Mexico in 1994. While traveling in Europe during the summer of 1993-1994 she met her husband-to-be, and was married in February of 1994 in Albuquerque, NM. Prior to her illness, she taught English-as-a-second-language in Almeria, Spain and worked as a health insurance analyst in the Baltimore area. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on November 2, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church 314 Lead SW (phone: 505-743-5646) Albuquerque, NM. A luncheon will be served at the church immediately following the service, where several memory boards will celebrate Paula's life through photographs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to a college fund that has been set up at the Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union for Alexandra Raya, in memory of her mother.
