Obituary for Ward

Ross J. Ward, 62, a resident of Sandia Park for 34 years passed away in comfort November 13, 2002, after a five year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Ross is survived by his dog, Radar; wife, Carla; daughter, Tanya and husband, David Goodman; grandson, Theodore Roscoe of Los Angeles; and son, Jason and wife, Megan Ward, and granddaughter, Hedy Rose of Albuquerque; Sandra Stangle, mother of Tanya and Jason; and countless relatives, friends and visitors to Tinkertown Museum. Ross was born in Aberdeen, SD on April 5, 1940. Artist, woodcarver, sign painter, showman and self-described"free thinker", Ross Ward's hands were seldom idle. He graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1959 and ran away to join the circus. He is the creator of the Tinkertown Museum in Sandia Park, NM. His creativity, imagination and sense of wonder continue to inspire, influence and amaze us all. His Moto was,"I did all this while you were watching TV". The family would like to thank the loving staff in the Arcadia Unit at Manor Care Sandia for the care and comfort he received over the last year of his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of New Mexico. Cremation has taken place. Family is holding a private Service over the weekend and a public Memorial is scheduled for April 5, 2002 at Tinkertown Museum. .DMP
