Obituary for Sanchez

Adela C. Sanchez, 75, a resident of Belen, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 15, 2002. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and Sacred Heart League. Adela held various positions with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) including director and project manager. She especially enjoyed teaching oil painting and ceramic classes to seniors for many years. Adela was a substitute teacher for the Belen Public School System for several years. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Adela was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Julio Sanchez in 1997; her parents, Vicente and Librada Chavez; two brothers, Ignacio and Raymond Chavez; and one sister, Stella Barela. Adela is survived by her loving daughters, Ms. Rebeca L. Sanchez of San Jose, CA and Ramona F. Rimorin of Belen; two loving sons, Dr. Nicolas T. Sanchez and wife, Tina of Las Vegas, NM and Martin V. Sanchez of Belen, NM; her grandchildren, Nicole and Adam Sanchez; Robert, Marcus, and Matthew Rimorin; Dante Sanchez; and her very special granddaughter, Adelita Sanchez; four great-grandchildren, Eli and Isiah Sanchez, Makayla and Nathan Romero; one brother, Colonel Joseph Chavez and wife, Mary Helen; one sister, Gertrude Torres and husband, Emilio, both of Albuquerque; loving son-in-law, Robert G. Rimorin of Belen; loving in-laws, Clorie Chavez, Edward P. Sanchez, Leo Barela, all of Albuquerque, and Gieremo Sanchez and wife, Alice of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. All of Adela's Services will take place at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. On Monday, November 18, 2002, a Visitation will be held at 5:30 p.m. and a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. with Father David officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be her four grandsons, Adam Sanchez; Robert, Marcus, and Matthew Rimorin; and four nieces, Jo Sanchez; Carol Majerus; Susan Moreno; and Nadine Torres. Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Adelita and Nicole Sanchez; and her remaining nieces and nephews. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM 87002.
