Obituary for Batsel

Leona M. Batsel, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, died Tuesday, November 12, 2002 in an Indianapolis, IN Nursing Home. Leona Clara Cisco was born June 19, 1910 in New Kensington, PA. She graduated from New Kensington High School. She worked for Alcoa in Pennsylvania and Phoenix, AZ. Leona was an active member of Progress Women's Club, First Baptist Church and Hoffmantown Church. She was also an avid bridge player. She is survived by her wonderful, caring nieces, Constance Rupel of Indianapolis, IN and Jacqueline Conaway of Lafayette, IN who took Leona under their wing and gave such great care and comfort in her last years. Also surviving are her stepchildren, Katherine Scrivner of Durango, CO and Charlie Batsel of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Margie Disque of Albuquerque and Chuck Batsel of Arlington, TX; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; seven great-nieces and nephews; and 15 great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Horace"Dutch" Miller of Casa Grande, AZ; her 2nd husband, Paul M. Batsel of Albuquerque; stepson, Bill; one grandson; and one nephew. Services will be held Monday, November 18, 2002, 10:30 a.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE, Dr. Robert Butler officiating. Entombment will follow at Chester T. Memorial Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements by French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.
