Obituary for Zapata

Filomena R. Zapata, age 95, a resident of Albuquerque, died November 18, 2002. Filomena was born and raised in Silver City, NM and moved to Albuquerque ten years ago. Survivors include her sister, Avelina Gallegos and husband, Bennie of Albuquerque; brother, Adolpho Zapata and wife, Bessie of Silver City, NM; brother in-law, Alfredo Lucero of Silver City, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The family wishes to extend special thanks to her caregivers Elena Segura and Debbie Lambrose and Eucharistic Minister Eddie Andrade. Viewing and visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2002 in Fern Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave. SE. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, November 21, 2002 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church 820 Broadway SE with Fr. Robert Stanion, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Herald Gallegos, Wilfred Gonzales, Bob Stone, Gregorio Ambriz, Pat Doniga and David Galaviz serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Cardenas, H.B. Gallegos, Danny Sanchez and Armando Castelazu. Strong-Thorne Mortuary is handling her arrangements.
