Obituary for Kinney

Dr. Robert J. Kinney, 94, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, died Thursdayf. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marjorie; and is survived by three nephews and one niece, David, Joe, Edward and Kathryn; and numerous grandnephews and grandnieces, all of whom will miss his wit and wisdom. Born March 23, 1909, in Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Kinney was a graduate of Princeton University (1931) and Harvard Medical School (1935). His lifelong career in internal medicine was highlighted by work at the University of New Mexico, Bellevue Hospital (NYC), Boston Psychopathic Hospital, New York University College of Medicine, as an instructor in preventive medicine at Cornell University, as a resident in medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and as Chief of the Department of Medicine at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Kinney also served in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps and was a consultant to the U.S. Veterans' Administration in Wisconsin. Dr. and Mrs. Kinney were married on August 8, 1942 in Ithaca, NY, and remained happy together until her death in 1991. Longtime residents of the village of Los Ranchos, the Kinneys enjoyed horseback riding, gardening and traveling. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
