Obituary for Wagner

Richard (Dick) Wagner, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, died Thursday morning, November 28, 2002 after a short illness. He was born on December 10, 1923 in Johnstown, PA, the 11th of 12 children of Peter and Margaret Wagner. Shirley Wagner, his beloved wife of 44 years; his daughter, Frances Wagner of Albuquerque; and sister, Ms. Margaret Lovejoy of Fairfield, CA, survive him. All will miss him dearly. Dick proudly serviced 20 years in the United States Air Force retiring as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the military Dick dedicated himself to helping other U.S. veterans by working as a benefits counselor for the Veterans Administration for 17 years. Following his retirement from the V.A., Dick worked tirelessly for 15 years as a volunteer for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Health Care for the Homeless and at the library in the V.A. Hospital. A memorial service will be held at French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Thursday, December 5, at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that any memorial donations be made to the Health Care for the Homeless Organization.
