Obituary for Shoemaker

Martha Ellen Shoemaker, a resident of Albuquerque since 1954, died Thursday, November 28, 2002. She is survived by her son, William P. Shoemaker of Albuquerque; brothers, Rex Phillips of Hobart, IN, Homer Phillips of Lufkin, TX and Gene Phillips of Ft. Wayne, IN; and sister, Norma Heaps of Bradenton, FL. Mrs. Shoemaker was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Shoemaker in 1985; brothers, Harold Phillips and John Phillips; and sisters, Lucille Betson and Betty Lou Rueckel. She had been an elder at First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Shoemaker was past member of Albuquerque Panhellenic Council. She was a graduate of Indiana State University where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Mrs. Shoemaker had been a teacher in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and New Mexico. She was also a former member of the Albuquerque Country Club Women's Golf Association. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Monday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Rev. Myron White officiating. Interment of cremains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
