Obituary for Hudson

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday December 01, 2002

Helen Charlotte Hudson was called home to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, 2002, at the age of 96. She was born August 19, 1906 in Wellston, OH, the first of four girls born to David William Hudson and Margaret Jane (Davis) Hudson. After graduating from Wellston High School in 1924, she attended business school in Columbus, OH. Helen went to work at State Savings Bank in the accounting department. After leaving State Savings Bank, she was able to combine her love for God and for children by working at the Methodist Children's Home in Columbus, OH. She remembered fondly the children who went on to college or a career and returned to visit her. Helen was a dainty, little lady with a dry wit that kept everyone in stitches. She might not eat a solid meal but she'd never turn down ice cream (except Dairy Queen), licorice jellybeans or chocolate turtles. She was sharp as a tack-always working crossword puzzles and playing bridge. Helen's faith in Christ was reflected in her service and worship at Hope United Methodist Church in Wellston, OH, and at Christ United Methodist Church in Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Mae Hudson. Helen will be missed by her sisters, Claudine Sproul, of Albuquerque, NM and Sarah Virginia Long, of Stanley, NM; two special cousins who she cared for over the years are Leila M. Murdoch and Ada Jones of Wellston, OH. Graveside Services will be held Monday, December 2, 2002, 2:30 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE with Rev. Larry Castillo-Wilson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to The United Methodist Children's Home, 1033 High Street, Columbus, OH 43085. Arrangements by French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel.
