Obituary for Boatman

E. Bobbye Boatman, 91, a long time resident of Santa Fe and Albuquerque, passed away November 21, 2002. She was born March 19, 1911, to Frank and Eszter Mile of Kitchener, Ontario and was married to Dr. L.C. (Larry) Boatman in Santa Fe in 1951. Her last employment during a career as an executive secretary was with the NM Synod of the Presbyterian Church. In Santa Fe, her activities included the Toastmistress Club, choir of the First Presbyterian Church, where she was a frequent soloist, Garden Club, creative cooking, and hosting events, such as the Convention of the NM Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, in which Dr. Boatman was active. In Albuquerque, Bobbye was an early and enduring member of the First Church of Religious Science and an avid student of Science of Mind. She is survived by her children, Diane Boatman, of Accord, NY and Dorothy Boatman, of Madison, WI; 6 grandchildren, Donna Gray, Kirsten, Eddie, Mattie, Larry, and Edna Hogan; 7 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Louis, Steve, Charles, Gordon, Margo Scargall, Elaine Lampman, and Eileen Lang; nieces and nephews, Hilda Scott, Edward Mile, Bonnie Lou Novack, Jane Chance, and Donald Chance, Jr.; and many grand nieces and nephews. Special friends included Pat and Bob Gooch, Dot and Tom Tennies, Joyce and George Hudson, Barb and Bob Pixton, Bill and Doris Weaver, Norm and Barb Dawson, John Bundock, Esther Boatman, and Mary Karmody. Her parents, husband, and siblings, Frank, Juliana Chance, Peter, and Alex, preceded her in death. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2002, at 11 a.m., at First Church of Religious Science, 3320 San Pedro Blvd. NE, with Rev. Patrick Pollard officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bobbye's name to the Building Fund of the First Church of Religious Science, the Animal Humane Association of NM, Inc., 615 Virginia Street SE, 87108, or a charity of your choice.
