Alice Cope Flournoy, 91, of Florala, AL died Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at Encore Senior Village in Pensacola, FL after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Alice Ruby Cope was born July 1, 1911 at Antioch, AL the daughter of Louise and Charlie Cope. She married Q.P. Flournoy of Florala, AL in 1933 and they were the parents of two sons, John Charles and Ronald. Alice and Q.P. were residents of Mobile and Chickasaw, AL for 18 years and Point Comfort, TX for 17 years where Q.P. was employed by the Aluminum Company of America. They later spent their retirement years in Florala, AL until Q.P.'s death in 1990. For the past six years, Alice's homes were assisted living facilities in Andalusia, AL and Pensacola, FL. Alice attended Straughn High and Troy State Teacher's College. She was an elementary school teacher, a homemaker, wife and mother. She was an active member of Florala's First Baptist Church, Order of Eastern Star and the History Club. Alice is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, John Charles and Charlene of Albuquerque, NM and Ron and Pam of Port Lavaca, TX; five grandchildren, Jamie, Jay, Jeffrey, Stacey, and Melissa; one great-grandson; eight great-granddaughters; and great-great-grandson; two sisters, Lela Cope and Grace Sharpe of Antioch, AL; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Robert, Claude, Oliver, Donald; and sisters, Tinnie Maynard and Willie Ceil King. Visitation will be Monday, December 9, 2002 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home in Florala, AL. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, December 10, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Florala.
