Obituary for Sagrestano

James A. Sagrestano, 87, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2001. He was a resident of Belen. James was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degree, and served in the U.S. Army in WWII in the 28th Infantry Division Signal Corps. He retired from Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage, NY where he helped build the Lunar Module, the F14 Navy Fighter plane, and various other aircraft. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen in 1991. James is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth of the family home; Margaret Marano and her husband, William of Shoreham, NY; one grandson, Billy Marano, of Shoreham, NY; and one sister, Lucy Colontino, of East Brunswick, NJ. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2001 at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home. A Final Viewing will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2001 at Romero Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 20, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gilbert Torres and the Knights of Columbus. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Mass cards or donations be made to Our Lady of Belen Cemetery Committee. Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
