Obituary for Simbaña

Juan Francisco Simbaña, 71, a resident of Albuquerque since 1988, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2001. He was born September 29, 1929 in Quito, Ecuador. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Maria Simbaña; three sons and one daughter, Jose"Pepe" and his wife, Ellen Griffiths, their children, Mari, Nina, Emily Margaret and Francisco Jose, of Albuquerque, Dolores"Gloria" and husband, Ricardo Perez, their children, Mauricio, his wife, Monica, and Alfredo, of Albuquerque, Francisco Jr. and his wife, Nancy, their children, Juan Carlos and Alexandra, of Albuquerque, Jaime and his wife, Blanca Usiña, their children, Jaime Orlando and Daniel, of Toronto, Canada; and his brothers and sisters in Quito, Ecuador. Francisco was a maitre d' for two past Presidents of Ecuador, a chef for several embassies in Quito, and an entrepreneur before coming to Albuquerque. Francisco was the pillar of his family and a leader of his community. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. His family would like to express special appreciation to Dr. Rosina Finley for her care and support to the family. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 18, 2001 at Fern Chapel, Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE. A Funeral Service will be performed at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2001 at Palm Chapel at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Strong-Thorne Mortuary is in charge of his arrangements.
