Obituary for Maccini

Leonard G. Maccini, born September 28, 1929, died January 2, 2001 in Albuquerque of pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his son, Michael Maccini and wife, Barbara Koenig and their children, Julia and Alexander of Albuquerque; and daughter, Cynthia Maccini of Portland, OR. He was predeceased by his grandson, David Maccini, at the age of ten. Leonard graduated from Colorado College in 1952 and was a member of the 1950 NCAA Championship Hockey Team. Leonard married Barbara A. Parkin in 1953. He spent two and a half years in the United States Marine Corps, returned to Colorado Springs, CO and obtained a masters degree at Colorado College. Leonard was an active member of the Colorado Springs business community for over 30 years. His career included many years with Vicon, a national manufacturing firm of hearing aids, his own retail hearing aid business and a final career in insurance sales and estate planning. He was the high school hockey coach at Fountain Valley School for 15 years and was very active in promoting the Southern Colorado Youth Tennis Association in the late 1960's and 1970's. Leonard thoroughly enjoyed camping, fishing and everthing to do with recreational vehicles. His other interests included golf, tennis and traveling. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Colorado College, earmarked for athletic scholarship.
