Obituary for Ortiz

Mr. Eugene (Gene) Ortiz Jr., a resident of Albuquerque passed away on February 17, 2001. Mr. Ortiz, is the beloved husband of 27 years to Mrs. Esther Ortiz. He is also survived by one daughter, Ethel M. Ortiz; two sons, Eugene Ortiz III and Erick Ortiz and wife, Maria; one grandchild, Auriella Ortiz; three sisters, Carmen Ramie Atencio and husband, Michael P., Frances S. Ortiz and Ruth E. Lucero and husband, Ted; two sisters-in-law, Gloria Rivera and Loretta Landavazo; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Ortiz Sr. and Josie. Mr. Ortiz was a member of the Catholic Church, worked in pharmaceutical sales for 24 years, a referee for baseball, basketball and football for the city ,county and YAFL, he was a devoted Dallas Cowboy Fan and a bowler, he was a liver transplant recipient. His granddaughter was the light of his life along with his children. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, with visitation after 6:30 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church, 2401 Broadway S.E. with Father Farias, Celebrant. Interment of the cremains will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd SW in charge of the arrangements.
