Obituary for Maclennan

Alexander (Les) McIntosh MacLennan, 81, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, died February 11, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital. He is survived by his wife, of 51 years, Dale of Albuquerque; sons, Scott and wife, Maria of Sandia Park, NM and Mark and wife, Kendra of Wilsonville, OR; grandchildren, Ian and Michael of Wilsonville and Alexis and Maxwell of Sandia Park; brother, Jack and wife, Sue of Casper, WY; and sister, Margaret Nelson and husband, Kenneth of Cody, WY. He was preceded in death by parents, Kenneth and Maggie Garden MacLennan, Casper, WY. He was born March 20, 1919 in Lander, WY., graduated from Natrona Co. High School, Casper in 1936 and worked at the Ohio Oil Company until his enlistment in the Army Air Corp in March, 1942, where he served during World War II until March, 1946. He attended the University of Wyoming, and graduated from the Northern Illinois College of Optometry, Chicago, IL, in 1950. Dr. MacLennan practiced in Chicago, Sioux City, IA and Muscatine, IA for 31 years until his retirement and move to Florida in May, 1986. They lived in the St. Pete Beach area until they moved in 1997 to Sandia Park, NM to be close to their son, Scott and family because of his illness. The past three years he has resided at Laurel View Healthcare. He was a member of Pasadena Presbyterian Church, St. Petersburg, FL, former Deacon of First Presbyterian Church, Muscatine, IA, a lifetime member of the American Optometric Assn., Iowa Optometric Assn. and Mississippi Valley Optometric Society, a 32nd degree Mason and past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge #304, Muscatine, IA. He will be lovingly remembered for his love of God, kind spirit, his ready smile and wonderful sense of humor. Memorial Services will be held in the Chapel at Laurel View Healthcare, 5900 Forest Hills Dr. NE on Thursday, February 22, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. If friends wish, memorial contributions may be made to Alzeimers Disease Research, 15825 Shade Grove Rd., Suite 140, Rockville, MD., 20850 or Pasadena Presbyterian Church, 100 No. Pasadena Ave., St. Petersburg, FL., 33710. A Memorial Service will also be held April 2, 2001 at Pasadena Presbyterian Church at 1:30 p.m. when interment will take place.
