Obituary for Clark

Elizabeth B. Clark, 54, a lifetime Albuquerque resident, died from complications due to multiple sclerosis on Monday, June 25, 2001. She is survived by her father, Robert E. Clark and wife, Ann S. Clark of Albuquerque; brother, Robert P. Clark and wife, Katie Getchell of Chico, CA; sister, Susan E. Clark and husband, Rafael Saenz of Albuquerque; aunt, Edith Wylder of Las Cruces; nephew, Max Clark of Chico, CA; cousin, Paul Stamm of Bernalillo. Her mother, Betty P. Sloan preceded her in death. Elizabeth was a 1967 graduate of UNM where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and received her master's degree from the University of Chicago in 1968. In her youth, her adventurous spirit and love of the Spanish language took her to Colombia, where she taught English at a university in Bogota from 1973 until 1980. A poet in her own right as well as a published translator, Liz translated the works of Mario Rivera, a Colombian poet. In her long struggle with multiple sclerosis, she maintained her sharp wit and her sense of humor and the ability to enjoy even the smallest pleasures available to her. Que descanse en paz.
