Obituary for Beers

George E. Beers, 95, a resident of Port Orange, FL and a former resident of Albuquerque for 43 years, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001. He is survived by his son, Paul J. Beers of Alhambra, CA; daughters, Margaret Tarpey of Port Orange, FL and Rosemary Stephens of Placitas; brother, Richard Beers of Franklin, PA; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Mr. Beers was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Laura; and son, William E. Beers. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Mr. Beers was a retired machinist for ACF and the Atomic Energy Commission. He enjoyed traveling with the Silver Streak Club. Mr. Beers also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Rosary will be recited Friday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Deacon Tom Jones reciting. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas NE, with Father Francis Malley, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the hospice group of your choice. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
