Obituary for Lopez

Charles Lopez passed away August 1, 2001, in Albuquerque, NM. Mr. Lopez was born March 25, 1923, in Albuquerque. He grew up on the family ranch near Montoya, NM, and later lived in Tucumcari. Charles served with pride in the U.S. Army on the front lines in Rhineland, Central Europe, during WWII. He was decorated with the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. After the war, Charles worked as a security officer at Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. He lived in Santa Fe for many years working in State government and in sales. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and had many friends and relatives in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Las Vegas. Charles was preceded in death by his father Maximiano Lopez in 1967. He is survived by his mother, Lucinda Lopez of Albuquerque; three children, Yvonne (Randy) Garcia of Albuquerque, Carla Lopez and husband Michael Vigil, of Santa Fe, and Edward (Debbie) Lopez, also of Santa Fe; five grandchildren, Mark and Lauren of Albuquerque, Rachel, Miquela, and Cristina, of Santa Fe; nephews, David Paul Lopez of Albuquerque, and Phillip Lopez of Carson City, NV. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 6, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
