Obituary for Sedillo

Mrs. Senaida (Sadie) Schubert Sedillo, 90, died peacefully at home in the company of her family on September 5, 2001. Mrs. Sedillo was born on April 23, 1911 in Santa Cruz, NM to Federico Schubert and Eloisa Gonzales-Schubert. She was raised in Tajique, NM by Luis and Eslinda Gonzales. It was here that she met and married her late husband, Pedro (Pete) Sedillo on November 3, 1928. The family of five moved to Albuquerque in 1945 where she gained employment with Sandia Laboratories and later retired in 1970. Sadie returned to Tajique with her husband and remained there until the death of her husband shortly after celebrating their 64th wedding anniversary in 1992. In addition to her husband who preceded her in death, is her son/grandson Freddie J. Sedillo; her daughter, Antonia Sedillo; her grandsons, Benjamin Torrez and Alex Muller; and her son-in-law, Lorenzo Torrez. Surviving her is her son, Pedro (Pete) Sedillo Jr. and wife, Christine; one daughter, Pricilla Torrez and friend, Joe Gonzales; four grandsons, John Torrez, Frank Sedillo, Joel Sedillo and Peter Sedillo III; three granddaughters, Ruby Sandoval and husband Tom, Loretta Smith and husband, Pete, Joylynn Perea and husband, Victor; 11 great-grandsons, Tommy Sandoval Jr. and wife, Beth, Martin Sedillo and wife, Rhonda, Christopher Sedillo and wife, Gerry, Jonathan Sedillo, Benjamin Sedillo BJ Sedillo, Christopher Smith, Matthew Smith, Peter Sedillo IV, John Jacob Torrez and Joshua Perea; four great-granddaughters, Veronica Perea, Amanda Torrez, Nicole Sedillo, Joanne Sandoval-Castillo and several great-great- grandchildren. Two surviving sisters, Helen Ledesma and Sally Arevalo of CA; her beloved niece Cheryl Vasquez and husband, Joe; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; several Hospice nurses and in home caretakers and beloved friend, Lillian Perea of Chihuahua, Mexico as well as many beloved friends and neighbors from the Estancia Valley and Albuquerque. Sadie was a member of the San Antonio Catholic Church in Tajique, NM. By request Deacon Juan Lucero will officiate the Communion Service on Monday morning, September 10, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. in the San Antonio Church in Tajique and Mary Gonzales will recited the Rosary Friday evening September 7, 2001 at 7:00 in the Church of the Ascension, 2105 Raymac, SW. Visitation for the Rosary will be begin at 6:30 p.m. Sadie's ashes will be interred beside her husbands in the San Antonio Cemetery in Tajique, NM. Pallbearers will be Richard Sanchez, Michael Moya, Joe Vasquez, Tom Sandoval, Pete Smith, Martin, Chris, Nicole, Jonathan Pete IV and Benjamin Sedillo, Joe and Larry Gonzales, BJ Sedillo, Larry Herrera and Al Hernandez. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW in charge of arrangements.Don't think of her as gone away, her journey's just begun, life holds so many facets, this earth is only one; just think of her as resting, from the sorrows and the tears, in a place of warmth and comfort, where there are no days and years; think how she must be wishing, that we could know today, how nothing but our sadness, can really pass away;...and think of her as living, in the hearts of those she touched...., for nothing loved is ever lost, and she was loved so much.
