Obituary for Padilla

Ben P. Padilla, 89, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, September 4, 2001. He is survived by his son, Bennie M. Padilla and wife, Mary; daughter, Alice Padilla, all of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Irene Leyba and husband, Joe Mendoza and Louise Lara and husband, Steve, all of Albuquerque; grandsons, Frank "Buddy" Lucero of New York City, NY, Michael Lucero and fiancé, Elizabeth and Roben Lucero and companion, Jada, all of Albuquerque; great-granddaughters, Laurene Leyba and Marlei Lucero, both of Albuquerque; great-grandsons, Lawrence Leyba of Long Beach, CA and Anthony Lucero of Albuquerque; great-great granddaughter, Astraea Trinity; sister, Carrie Candelaria; brother, Amado Padilla, all of Albuquerque; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Marino Padilla. Mr. Padilla worked for ten years in Security at Sandia National Laboratories. He also worked for a number of years with the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department, eight of those years serving as Undersheriff with Lester Hay. Mr. Padilla was a member of the National Sheriff's Association. He also owned and operated AAA Bail Bonds. Rosary will be recited Thursday, September 6, 2001 at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 7, 2001 at 8:30 a.m. at Church of the Risen Saviour, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Thursday, September 6, 2001, 3:00 p.m. until time of rosary.
