Obituary for Mcintosh

Ralph Vinson McIntosh, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, died at the age of 87 in Show Low, Arizona on August 27, 2001. Ralph called "Mac," was born in Ashland, Kentucky on October 18, 1913. He moved to Albuquerque in 1920 with his family. His parents and three siblings preceded him in death: Mildred Thompson, Sue Freidank, and John McIntosh. Mac served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Card, in the Atlantic. Following the war, he worked in a variety of positions. He was an auto mechanic, a projectionist in movie theaters in downtown Albuquerque, and he built clinics in outlying New Mexico communities for the Public Health Foundation. He went to work for General Services Administration at Sandia Base Hospital, then the Federal Building downtown. In 1972, Mac retired as GSA Buildings Manager for the southwest area. He moved to Arizona in 1975. Mac is survived by his wife, Helen and her children: Chase Congable, Michael Congable and wife Kathy, Quill Congable and wife Judy, Stacey Marr and husband Kevin. Mac is survived by his children: Alice Vogel and husband Mike, Stuart McIntosh and wife Julie, as well as 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. There was a mutual affection between Mac and the young people he loved to instruct and encourage. Cremation has taken place in Show Low, Arizona, according to Helen and Mac's wishes. Mac also requested there be no service. In memory of Mac, his family asks that you enjoy something in nature, fix the unrepairable, invent the unimaginable, and keep dreams alive.
