Obituary for Cunnion

Mary Gail Cunnion was born April 26, 1924 in Spring Valley, NM and died a peaceful death on Sunday, September 2, 2001 in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Francis Joseph in 1989. She is survived by four children, daughter, Maureen and husband, Dr. Gar Graham of Waldorf, MD; son, Dr. Robert Cunnion and wife, Dr. Margie Cunnion of McLean, VA; daughter, Maggie Newman and companion, Dickie Johnston of Albuquerque and son, Peter Cunnion and wife, Kelly of Zug, Switzerland; and eight grandchildren, Ross and Hudson Graham, Emma, Rose, Hanora, Katie, Patrick and Madeleine Cunnion. Mary entered nursing training in Rochester, NY in 1942 and was commissioned into the U.S. Air Force in 1950 where she served her country as a nurse. She was a partner and companion to her husband during his 26 year Air Force Career. Frank and Mary retired in Albuquerque in 1976 when he attended UNM School of Law and practiced in Albuquerque until his death in 1989. Mary was a resident of La Vida Llena since 1990. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She never had a harsh word for anyone and brought sunshine to the life of everyone she encountered. Mary will live on in the hearts of her family who loved her. A memorial service will be celebrated on Friday, September 7, 2001, at 11:30 a.m., at La Vida Llena Retirement Home Chapel, 10501 Lagrima De Oro NE. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE.
