Phillip Cain Carter, long time Life Master and Director of the Duke City Bridge Club, Editor and Educator, U.S. Veteran, and Southern Baptist, passed away August 22, 2001, following a sudden heart attack, in Truth or Consequences, NM, where he resided after retirement. Born January 11, 1929, he was the only son of Mr. & Mrs. E.C. (Nick) Carter. Six sons survive him: Ricky, Paul, Nick, Phil Jr., David and Kenneth. He leaves four sisters: Peggie Vidal, Billie Blanchard, Eleanor Scotten, and Jean Berquist Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held September 7, 2001, at 3:00 p.m. at the U.S. National Cemetery, Santa Fe, N.M.
