Obituary for Vialpando

Lucretia Sanchez Vialpando age 89, a resident of Albuquerque, previously of Alcalde, NM., peacefully went to her eternal rest on Friday, June 8, 2001, as a result of lung cancer. She was born September 10, 1911 in LaVillita to Avelino Sanchez Sr., and Gertrudis Casados Sanchez. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert Vialpando; son, Gregorio O. McKenzie; brothers, Joe G. Sanchez, Avelino Sanchez Jr., Juan Sanchez; and a sister, Mary Irene Sanchez. Lucretia is survived by her siblings and their spouses Agneda Palmer and husband, Robert of Albuquerque, Stella Wheeler and husband, George, Ramon Sanchez and wife, Connie, Louise Dora Salazar and Jose L. Sanchez of Santa Fe; sister-in-law, Bernie Sanchez of Espanola; nieces and nephews Loyola Salazar, Lorraine Gurule, Mable Willaman, Sandra Sanchez, Pearl and Raquel Wheeler, Alfonso, Chris and Margaret Sanchez, Michael, Andrew, and Randy Sanchez and Bernadette Wiegel, Donald Salazar and Anna Mae Gallegos; daughter-in-law, Jean McKenzie; five grandchildren Mary Ann, Cathy, Greg, Marjean and Coralu McKenzie; 14 great grandchildren all residing in Utah and Arizona. Lou's Patience, compassion and love for those around her will never be forgotten. She was a devout Catholic. She loved being outdoors and working in her garden. She loved her roses, humming birds, animals, picking pinon, playing bingo, sewing, cooking, and taking nature walks. A viewing and rosary will be held at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano NW. Albuquerque, on Tuesday, June 12, 2001 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 p.m. It was her wish to be cremated and a memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Annes Catholic Church, 511 Alicia (atHickox) in Santa Fe on Friday, June 15, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
